the Mac Books are here!

I am so happy to announce that we have recieved 14 Mac Books and 1 Mac Book Pro. These lap tops will be utilized as a mobile programming lab that we can use for various technology programs. And here is more good news...we don't have to have administrative privileges to download apps and software that we want to use. Woo-Hoo.

These laptops can do all sorts of fun things:

record/ edit music using garage band
record podcasts using garage band
make films and edit films using iMovie and final cut
make a DVD of forementioned film using iDVD
create websites using iweb
edit and fix up photos
make all sorts of cool digital art
make video games
Plus whatever else we can come up with!

I have spoken with a grad student at U of H who is going to doing a series of game creation programs for us.

In addition, Daisy G. is going to talk to someone she knows about having a local artist in a two man musical endeavor do a local artist laptop tour for us...

And I know Robyn H and Erik W have lots of good ideas too.

For those of you who don't want to have learn how to work the Mac 's yourself, don't worry-- we'll have presenters and other staff members from around the system who can help you out.

For those of you that do want to learn, we'll have a special training.

I hope to have them for you to ogle at the Sept. 25th meeting.

Heidi
